The Maine Coast Railroad (MC) was a local railway company in Maine ( United States ). Their headquarters were in Wiscasset . The railway company was founded in 1990 and leased the Brunswick – Rockland railway line (92 km) from the state of Maine. On October 26, 1990, the MC began traffic to Rockland. On December 30, 1992 MC also leased the Brunswick – Augusta railway line (53 km), on which operations began in September 1995. The state had bought the two routes in 1985 from Guilford Transportation after it had stopped freight traffic.

In addition, the Maine Coast Railroad operated an excursion train that ran from Wiscasset to Newcastle in the summer and later to Warren . The lease for the railway lines expired on December 4, 2000 and was not renewed. The Maine Coast Railroad was then disbanded. Three years later, the Maine Eastern Railroad took over the routes and continued operations.

The railway company owned four diesel locomotives, namely two MLW M420R , an Alco RS-11 and an Alco S-1 , which were stationed in Rockland.
