The magazine Making Games (up to issue 02/2008: / GameStar / dev ) deals with all areas of computer and video games - development and business development . The magazine was founded in 2005 as an offshoot of the German Computer Games - magazine GameStar of Gunnar Lott founded and André Horn. It is primarily aimed at game developers and people who are interested in this area. Each issue contains articles on the following topics from the computer game industry:

  • Industry news - news from the game developer scene
  • Workshops and basic articles on individual areas of game development (e.g. creating graphic effects or 3D models )
  • Campus & Research - current scientific studies and projects on the subject of video games
  • Business finance, legal issues related to computer games and the industry in general

There is also an event calendar with trade fair and seminar dates, an internship exchange and a company register.

The magazine with a length of around 80 pages was published by IDG Entertainment Media GmbH before Computec Media bought it in March 2016 and now has six issues per year. It was issued quarterly from August 2005 to August 2009. According to the published media data, each issue reached a good 10,000 readers. According to the publisher, in December 2006 the magazine had a circulation of around 3,600 copies.
