Makkabi Kraków ( Żydowski Klub Sportowy Makkabi Kraków ) was a Jewish sports club in Kraków from 1909 to 1939.

history

When it was founded, the club was one of the first Jewish sports clubs in Austria-Hungary (such as Hasmonea Lemberg , Hakoah Czernowitz , Jutrzenka Kraków ).

He belonged to the Makkabi sports association and the Zionist movement, in contrast to the local Jewish rival Jutrzenka , who was close to the General Jewish Workers Association . The encounters between the two football teams were therefore often referred to as "holy war".

The greatest success of the football team was in 1921 the 2nd place in the Krakow championship (class A ).

The water polo players were with the team that had come from Jutrzenka in 1928 and had already been national champions three times, five more national champions from 1928 to 1932 and third from 1933 to 1936.

In 1939 the association was dissolved after the German occupation of Krakow.
