The Malchiner Tor in Teterow is one of the two preserved gates of the fortifications that surrounded the city. The Gothic four-storey brick gate from the 14th century in the southeast of the city center secured the road to Malchin .

The gate has an ogival passage with a square base. The passage was subsequently enlarged. It is adorned on the field side with two large horizontal plaster panels and rows of pointed arch panels of various sizes on the upper floors. The city side is decorated in a less noticeable way with a row of pointed arches in the upper part of the building. Both sides are adorned with a staggered bezel gable.

The building served as a city prison in the 19th century and has housed the city museum since 1990. In addition to the prison cells, which can be visited, it provides information about early Slavic history as well as local and regional history.
