Bearded Sphinx painter
The painter of the bearded sphinx is an important exponent of Etrusco-Corinthian vase painting .
The personality behind the modern emergency name painter of the bearded sphinx is considered to be the artist who introduced black-figure vase painting in the Corinthian style to Etruria . He began his career in Vulci , where he first worked in the late Protocorinthian miniature style. At the same time a workshop developed in Caere in which large scale amphorae were made. Around 600 BC The painter of the bearded Sphinx moved to this workshop. Here his initially quite fine style became more and more coarse. His vases were mostly divided into animal friezes of roughly the same size.
