A mandate ( lat. Mandatarius ) is generally used to describe any person or institution that accepts or performs a mandate (for example a lawyer who acts in accordance with the power of attorney or on behalf of another ) and, in particular, in Austria the elected members of the National Council , the state parliaments and the municipal councils , as they have received an order, i.e. a mandate , from the voters .
