As Mandatserheblichkeit refers to the likely impact of an electoral error or suffrage injury to the election result .
This term was coined by the German Federal Constitutional Court , according to whose case law violations of the law that have not led to a change in the legal composition of the Bundestag cannot lead to an intervention by the electoral review authorities in the contested election. That is, such a challenge must be rejected. It is emphasized here that the change in the distribution of mandates must not only be of a theoretical nature, but must also be specific and not entirely remote based on general life experience.
