Manipel (unit)

Manipel (Latin manipulus and manipula : handful ) was a pharmacist's weight for dry substances and should be half an ounce . It had the meaning of a handful, corresponding to the contents of a cupped hand as a measure of capacity. The measurement was taken when the exact weight was not important. The maniple was used in the scope of the Nuremberg medicinal weight.
