location

It is located in the center of Étretat on the northeast side of Boulevard Président René Coty, about 100 meters southeast of the beach, at 4 Boulevard Président René Coty .

History and architecture

The three-storey half - timbered house was built around the turn of the 20th century by the architect Émile Mauge . The construction was carried out by the construction company Touzet de Fécamp. The design of the house is based on the medieval half-timbered architecture. Mauge used parts of a 15th century house from Lisieux to build the Manoir de la Salamandre .

The facade of the house is richly decorated, so there are various sculptures. Many of them were created by the carpenter Rabot. The figurative jewelry deals in particular with the topic of alchemy . The name is derived from the representation of a salamander who is supposed to be able to withstand fire.

The hotel now has 15 rooms.
