Mantle cell

A class of glial cells of the peripheral nervous system is called mantle cells , satellite cells or amphicytes or amphicytes . They delimit peripheral neurons in ganglia , mainly in the spinal ganglia. They cover the cell body of the neurons as a single flat layer and serve their metabolism.

The counterparts of the mantle cells in the central nervous system are the astrocytes .

The B lymphocytes in the cortex of the lymph nodes are also known as mantle cells .
