Manuel de la Bandera
Manuel de la Bandera (life dates unknown) was a Mexican film director , actor , film producer and screenwriter . He was a major figure in Mexican cinema during the silent era .
Life
De la Bandera founded the production company México-Lux , which had its studio premises in Mexico City . He campaigned for the training of actors. His first attempts in this direction in 1916 failed, but he shot the film Fatal orgullo with the drama students . In 1917, the Mexican President Venustiano Carranza ordered the establishment of a film school as part of the National School of Music and Art , and appointed Manuel de la Bandera to be its director.
