María de Jesús Patricio Martínez
María de Jesús Patricio Martínez (born December 23, 1963 in Tuxpán ) is a Mexican doctor and the first indigenous presidential candidate for the 2018 presidential election .
María is an ethnic Nahua and human rights activist . She runs a center for traditional Nahua medicine in Tuxpán.
On May 28, 2017, she was nominated by the Congress of Indigenous People ( Congreso Nacional Indígena ). The Zapatista Army of National Liberation supports the candidacy.
