Marc Werlen (born January 12, 1978 in Biel ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player .

Career

Marc Werlen began his professional career at the age of 17 with Friborg-Gottéron in the National League A , after having been active as a child and youth at SC Lyss . At the age of 14 he already played in the highest amateur league in Switzerland. During his 12-year professional career, he played a total of 600 games as a defender in the national leagues A and B.

One of his greatest successes was fourth place at the European Junior Championships in Ufa in 1996. Two years later he won the bronze medal with the Swiss national team at the U20 World Championships in Finland. Another highlight was the participation with Friborg in the Spartak Cup in Moscow .

With the EHC Biel Werlen was twice champion in the NLB, until he had to give up his professional career in 2008 due to a chronic inflammation of the Achilles tendon .
