Marco Aurelio Yano

Marco Aurelio Yano (born 1963 in São Paulo ; † 1991 ibid) was a Brazilian composer. His best-known work is the oboe concerto (1991).

Life

Yano was born in São Paulo in 1963 as a descendant of a Japanese family. He was paraplegic from birth and was bound by many restrictions. Despite these physical problems, Yano studied at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNSESP) and graduated in conducting and composition . There he also met the oboist Alex Klein , for whom he later wrote his oboe concerto. He never completed this completely; before he even fully orchestrated it, he died of a brain tumor at the age of 27.

The oboe concerto dedicated to Alex Klein keeps his name alive; Since the CD Twentieth Century Oboe Concertos with Alex Klein, Paul Freeman and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, released in 2004 , this composition has achieved worldwide fame.
