Marcus Publicianus Rhesus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcus Publicianus Rhesus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD . According to Ioan Piso , the name should be added to Marcus Aurelius Publicianus Rhesus .

Two inscriptions prove that Rhesus was prefect of the Ala I Batavorum before 253 , who was stationed in Dacia at that time ; the leadership of this unit is likely to have been his fourth military command ( Militia quarta ). The two inscriptions also indicate that he was 253 deputy of the legionary prefect ( agens vice praefecti legionis ) of the Legio V Macedonica stationed in Potaissa .
