Marek Görlich

Marek Görlich (* 1979 in Bünde ) is a former German decathlete .

Görlich completed his Abitur at Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium in Bünde . He then studied agricultural science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel as well as economics and management at the École nationale supérieure agronomique de Rennes .

From 1989 to 2006 Görlich started for the LG Bünde Ahle / Löhne . In 2007 he switched to LT DSHS Cologne . He achieved his greatest successes with coach Hans Jürgen Hammer (* 1949 - † 2015):

Successes:

  • Multiple Westphalian champion in the decathlon as well as top placements at German championships
  • 1996 German runner-up in the B youth division (decathlon team)
  • 2005 11th place in the Super League of the European Cup for all-around fighters in Bydgoszcz (Poland)
  • 2005 team captain of the German national decathlon team
  • 2006 Participation in the Thorpe Cup (international match Germany: USA)
  • 2008 German team champion with the athletics team DSHS Cologne
  • since 2010 board member in the decathlon team
