Mariano Fazio Fernández

Mariano Fazio Fernández (born April 25, 1960 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine clergyman and Roman Catholic theologian. He has been Vicar General of Opus Dei since 2014 .

Life

He studied history at the University of Buenos Aires . He received his PhD in philosophy from the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce . John Paul II ordained him a priest in 1991. For seven years he was professor of legal philosophy and editor of the Ecuadorian newspaper El Telégrafo .

From 2002 to 2008 he was Rector of the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce and President of the Rectors' Conference of the Pontifical Universities of Rome. Until 2014 he was the regional vicar of Opus Dei in Argentina , Paraguay and Bolivia .
