Mark Levinson is a brand that specializes in high-quality hi-fi components.

The company was founded in 1972 as Mark Levinson Audio Systems (MLAS) by Mark Levinson, but sold to Madrigal Audio Laboratories in the mid-1980s after economic problems in a forced situation . Today the company belongs to Harman International Industries and also develops hi-fi systems for cars (e.g. for Lexus ).

The outstanding reputation of the Mark Levinson devices can be explained by the uncompromising quality-oriented design of his first products, which were marketed under his name, and his follow-up projects under the name Cello , later under the name Red Rose Music . The products marketed by Madrigal under his name have at no time been able to build on this original quality and reputation . One of the first and most important products Mark Levinson preamp was the LNP-2 , which was produced in very small quantities and to this day due to its precise adjustment on the basis of three penny - & - Giles - potentiometers is considered exemplary product.
