Margrave crown

The margrave crown or marquise crown is only important in heraldry .

A headband with three leaf and two pearl prongs on each of which three pearls sit. It is therefore only a symbol of rank and dignity above the coat of arms .

It was used on coats of arms in Denmark, Italy, France and Spain.

  • In France, the old marquise crown only has three simple pearl prongs between the leaf prongs.
  • Five blade tines were in use in Belgium and the Netherlands.
  • In Germany, Austria, Sweden and Norway it was used as the old count's crown .
  • The English / British marquess crown had a purple cap and the ring was set with three leaf and two pearl prongs.
