Gert Oswald

Gert Oswald (* 1944 in Dresden ; † 1996 ) was a German freelance restorer in the preservation of monuments and heraldry .

Life

Gert Oswald was already interested in history as a teenager and therefore often stayed in the youth club of the Dresden Historical Museum . In private studies, he acquired knowledge and skills in artistic plastic and metal design and, as an autodidact , acquired extensive knowledge in the fields of coat of arms and religious orders .

In 1984 he published the first edition of his to standard work become lexicon of heraldry, the 22 years after the first edition was launched, and ten years after the death of the editor again unchanged.
