Marlee House

Marlee House is a mansion in the Scottish village of Kinloch in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

The Easter Kinloch estate , now Marlee , has been occupied since 1499. The nucleus of Marlee House was built around 1500. Fragments of this building were integrated into the current main wing of Marlee House. This probably originated in the 17th century. Between 1754 and 1760, Marlee House was significantly expanded by adding four wings. The entrance area was also revised during this period. In the following centuries the mansion was redesigned again. The architect A. J. Meacher was entrusted with the renovation of the interior in 1890 .

Marlee House stands on the southern edge of the hamlet of Kinloch near the north bank of the Loch of Drumellie . The facades of the low, two-story mansion are plastered with Harl . The main wing is five axes wide. The wings erected in the 1750s extend in all four directions.
