Mars trojan
Mars Trojans are asteroids that run on the orbit of the planet Mars , but they lead by 60 ° at the Lagrange point L 4 or follow them at the Lagrange point L 5 . An asteroid orbit is stable only at these two points in the orbit. Like hundreds of small bodies on the orbit of Jupiter and Neptune, they are called Trojans . The first Mars Trojan was discovered in 1990 (5261), Eureka .
In July 2017, the Minor Planet Center listed five Mars Trojans, one leading and four following. Of another four, the orbit is not yet sufficiently secured for permanent numbering . It is believed that (311999) 2007 NS 2 , (385250) 2001 DH 47 , 2011 SC 191 , 2011 UN 63 , 2011 SL 25 and 2011 UB 256 could belong to a family around Eureka .
