The Martin Buber State School is an integration and special school of the Province of Upper Austria in the municipality of Alkoven (Upper Austria). The lessons take place in special and socially integrative classes, with the aim of promoting all students individually. Especially those with increased needs, with the claim to compensate for development deficits in the cognitive, physical, social, emotional areas and in perception.

history

  • 1945 - Foundation of the "Gauhilfsschule" in Hartheim Castle
  • 1945 - In December these special school classes move to the Hart orphanage near Leonding - the St. Isidor Children's Village is born
  • 1969 - Opening of a branch class of the St. Isidor State Special School in the Hartheim Institute - this is the actual beginning of the school. This class is led by a works teacher and attended by 12 school children.
  • 1979 - According to the decree of the state government, the school becomes independent from the school year 1979/80
  • 1999 - 30 years of the Hartheim special school. On the occasion of the ceremony, the new name of the school Martin Buber State School will be announced
  • 2003 - Big opening ceremony of the new building of the Martin Buber State School

Mission statement

The Martin Buber State School is named after the Austrian-Israeli religious philosopher Martin Buber . She made Martin Buber's saying, “Man becomes I through you”, as her guiding principle.

Classes are based on the curriculum of the elementary school, the general special school and the S-class in
