MassTag-PCR

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MassTag PCR is a biochemical method, it is the combination of a polymerase chain reaction with mass spectrometry .

principle

The MassTag-PCR uses labeled primers in the polymerase chain reaction to amplify the DNA, mostly by multiplex PCR . The primers are marked by a UV-light- unstable bond. Following the PCR, the amplified DNA is separated from unbound primers by DNA extraction , whereby only markings from built-in primers are detected. The markings with different characteristic M / z ratios ( mass codes ) are released under UV light in the mass spectrometer . Compared to the multiplex qPCR , the MassTag-PCR has a higher detection limit .

Applications

The MassTag-PCR is used, among other things, to detect pathogens .
