The Przemyśl massacre is the murder of around 600 Jews in the Polish city of Przemyśl from September 15 to 19, 1939 by Einsatzgruppen of the Security Police and the SD .

On September 15, 1939, units of the 7th Infantry Division occupied Przemyśl. Subsequently, the Einsatzkommandos I / 1 and I / 3 began shooting the people listed in the special investigation book of Poland .

On September 16, 1939, soldiers of the Wehrmacht rounded up Jews and forced them to remove rubble and repair a damaged bridge. During the day, the male members of the Jewish community were driven through the city to the Jewish cemetery and shot there by members of the task force.

By September 19, a total of up to 600 people had been shot in Przemyśl and the surrounding area. The remaining members of the Jewish community were driven by the German units across the river San , which divided the city and formed the demarcation line between the German Empire and the Soviet Union .

On September 28, the German units surrendered Przemyśl to the Red Army and withdrew across the San. Before that, however, they burned down both synagogues and a large part of the Jewish quarter.
