Mastanabal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mastanabal ( tamazight ⵎⴰⵙⵟⴰⵏⴱⴰⵍ Masṭanbal ) was the youngest legitimate son of the Numid king Massinissa .

After his death in 149 BC He shared the rule of Numidia with his brothers Micipsa and Gulussa , whereby the jurisdiction was transferred to him.

Very little is known about the life and deeds of the Mastanabal itself, even its life data is not known. Its importance lies in the dynastic and consequent political entanglements of the Numidian royal family, because when he died soon after taking office, he left behind at least two sons, Gauda and Iugurtha , who later ruled Numidia as kings.
