Master control room

A master control room (MCR) is a task area in which services for the broadcasting of a TV station or other broadcasting corporation are provided. The core task lies in the general preparation of the broadcast processing, which includes all broadcast processing activities. A structure of this type is usually operated 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by staff who ensure the performance of the platforms and analyze and summarize the information.

In most MCR there are various screens that also display the end signals of the production via the route of normal consumers (e.g. cable connection or satellite).

This means that the program produced and broadcast can be monitored from the same location down to the “last mile”.
