The term mastodynia describes the feeling of tension or pain in both mammae ( mammary glands ). It mainly occurs in the second half of the cycle , especially in the context of premenstrual syndrome . It can also happen in a man with real gynecomastia .

Mastodynia is due to water retention. They can be broken down more quickly through sport and exercise.
