Material und Informations zur Zeit (MIZ) (subtitle: Political magazine for non-denominational people and atheists) is a German-language magazine that has been published quarterly since 1972. It is published by the International Association of Non- Denominational and Atheists (IBKA) and is aimed at “ Non- denominational and atheists , free thinkers , humanists and skeptics , non- believers of all kinds” . and has been published by Alibri Verlag , Aschaffenburg, since 1994 .
Before that, it was initially published independently by a small group of active people, and after the IBKA was founded in 1975, it was published directly by the latter. From 1990 to 1994 the magazine was published by the International Book Service of the Non-Denominational (IBDK), which was founded by the IBKA.
In addition to the IBKA, other associations offer their members the MIZ as a subscription. The magazine has developed into a kind of discussion platform for the secular scene.
Each issue has a main topic; in addition, there are mainly articles on the relationship between state and church , politics and religion, new religiosity and esotericism, as well as secular ethics . There are different sections for book reviews, network reports and an international round-trip.
The 2007 edition was between 1200 and 1300 copies, a single issue cost 4 euros. In the course of changing the format of the magazine from A4 to B5 in 1975, 2,000 copies were printed, but some were distributed free of charge. Around 1990 the number of subscriptions was around 450. The editor in charge was Michael Schmidt-Salomon from 1999 to 2007, and Christoph Lammers since 2007. There are also eight other permanent employees.
