Matt Firor

Matt Firor is an American programmer and game developer for MMOGs . He became known as the co-founder of the development studio Mythic Entertainment and his collaboration on the computer games Dark Age of Camelot and The Elder Scrolls Online .

His first attempt to gain a foothold in the online games market was the ultimately unsuccessful implementation of the license for The Scepter of Goth BBS ( MUD ). Firor's second, more successful project was the establishment of Interesting Games (ISI) in 1990 with Rob Denton and two other partners. At ISI Firor was co-designer and responsible for the multiplayer game Tempest that was later renamed Darkness Falls .

In 1995 ISI merged with Adventures Unlimited Software Inc. (AUSI) to form Mythic Entertainment and began developing numerous game titles. During his time at Mythic (1995-2006) he distinguished himself as the designer of the bestseller Dark Age of Camelot and its first two expansions. As Vice-President of Mythic, he was also responsible for the implementation of MMOGs for next-gen consoles.

In June 2006 he left Mythic to build Ultra Mega Games, a company specializing in customer service for online games. On August 1, Firor was hired as chief developer at ZeniMax Online , a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media and its publishing subsidiary Bethesda Softworks , of which he is now president. At ZeniMax Online, he was instrumental in the development of The Elder Scrolls Online .

Firor has lectured at the University of Virginia , the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and lectures at corporate events.
