Matting agents

The term matting agent refers to additives for coating materials that influence the surface of the coating in such a way that its degree of gloss decreases ( matting ) . Matting agents usually cause a targeted roughness of the coating surface, which creates a diffuse light scattering .

In addition to silicas and silicates , polyethylene , polypropylene or copolymers are also used as matting agents .
