MAUP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MAUP is an English acronym for modifiable areal unit problem and describes a potential source of error in spatial analyzes if they use aggregated data (Unwin, 1996). Different fields in human geography and landscape ecology are affected by this problem (Wu, 2007). It is related to the ecological fallacy ( ecological fallacy ), which incorrectly assumes spatially homogeneous data (Wu, 2007).
