Mavi blue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maviblau ( Turkish mavi for 'blue') is a Turkish-German online magazine with editorial offices in Istanbul and Berlin . The focus of the magazine is on art, culture and society between Turkey and the German-speaking countries.

history

Maviblau originally came into being in August 2014 out of the desire to create a platform that would give space to the many facets of German-Turkish culture . Since March 2015, articles have been published several times a week on the magazine's website. Since summer 2016, the platform has also been offering its articles in Turkish.

In addition to the editorial part, Maviblau also organizes projects and cultural events in Istanbul and Germany . To this end, Maviblau acts as a platform to connect different cooperation partners. A reading performance developed together with a theater in Kadıköy premiered in Istanbul and is touring Germany in 2018.

Thanks to the cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Istanbul, another platform has been created that is dedicated to the common past of Turks and Germans in the form of individual traces.

Content and goals

The online magazine wants to open up new perspectives in order to break down prejudices in society. Intercultural communication and cultural diversity should also be promoted. The aim is a stronger presence of the German-Turkish art and cultural exchange in the media and in society.

editorial staff

Maviblau's volunteer team consists of over 40 mostly young people. These include students, journalists, photographers and cultural scientists who, for various reasons, are close to Turkish culture and share their passion and expertise with others through this project.
