Maximinus of Aix
According to legendary tradition, Maximinus von Aix (also: Maximus ) was the first bishop of Aix .
He is said to have come to Gaul with Mary Magdalene from Palestine and to have worked as the first bishop in Aix-en-Provence and to have built the first church at the site of today's Saint-Sauveur cathedral . His death is dated around the year 45, but if Maximinus was a historical figure at all, it should be a subsequent early dating.
