McKamey Manor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

McKamey Manor is a horror attraction in which so-called "survival horror events" take place and was founded by Russ McKamey in San Diego .

McKamey Manor has repeatedly been criticized for exposing participants to physical and psychological torture, as well as verbal and physical aggressiveness.

The attraction

McKamey Manor was founded in San Diego and is currently located in Summertown, Tennessee and Huntsville , Alabama .

Russ McKamey only selects a small number of participants who are allowed to visit McKamey Manor. Admission is free, but dog food is required as an entrance fee. Each participant must sign a waiver prior to the visit and must be at least 21 years old; visitors can take part as early as 18 years old if they have permission from their legal guardians.

A visit can take 4 to 8 hours, but no participant has lasted the entire 8 hours, although in the past a so-called safeword was expressly waived, McKamey Manor now gives the participant the opportunity to cancel the visit by using a security phrase.

controversy

Russ McKamey and his actors use real torture methods in the field of white torture on the tour , so the participants are often drowned until shortly before suffocation ( waterboarding ), covered with wet earth or choked and beaten with hands and objects, often they are Participants also locked in tight boxes and cages or forced to eat unknown substances. A mental confusion of the participant is in the foreground during the entire visit, so the participants' eyes are covered with adhesive tape and headphones are put on, the noises are played and voices are transmitted. In addition, straitjackets are put on the participants. Russ McKamey confused attendees throughout the visit by making them feel insecure and fearing.

Several videos published by McKamey show that a so-called safeword is often not respected, and the participants are also often harassed even though they have expressly withdrawn their consent. McKamey Manor campaigned for a while not to respect "safeword".

The torture methods used can have a negative impact on the psyche and body of the participants and cause permanent damage. Participants very often suffer from anxiety and panic attacks during their visit.

The 45-page disclaimer includes a list of all possible risks that may arise while visiting McKamey Manor. This also lists that teeth and nails and hair may be removed from the participant. Broken bones and a result of death are not excluded.

McKamey Manor has been the subject of numerous complaints in Lawrence County. County Commissioner Scott Franks described an incident where police officers were called into the property after a neighbor saw a woman dragged out of a van screaming as part of the visit.

District Attorney Brent Cooper said the attraction is legal because visitors voluntarily submit to the program, but Tennessee law allows attendees to withdraw their consent at any time.
