Medal for Loyalty Service in the Shipping Industry

The medal for loyalty services in the shipping industry was a state award of the GDR and was donated on July 1, 1965. With it employees, from 1968 also members of the deep-sea fishing industry, of the maritime transport industry could be honored for many years of loyal uninterrupted service.

  • I. level in gold: for 40 years of service,
  • II. Level in silver for 25 years of service and the
  • III. Bronze level for 15 years of service.

Appearance

The medal with a diameter of 31.5 mm is either gold-plated, silver-plated or made of bronze due to its awarded grade. On its obverse , within a laurel wreath, shows a raised, embossed steering wheel and on the obverse in the upper half of the medal the state coat of arms of the GDR, including the inscription: FÜR TREUE / DIENSTE . The medal was worn as a ribbon medal on the left side of the chest on a 24 × 13 mm blue ribbon with a central stripe 1.5 mm wide, with three central stripes for the first level.
