Media freedom

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Switzerland, freedom of the media refers to the basic right guaranteed in the Federal Constitution (BV) , according to which “the freedom of the press, radio and television as well as other forms of public telecommunications distribution of performances and information is guaranteed” (Art. 17, Paragraph 1 BV). Article 17 (3) BV explicitly includes editorial secrecy in the freedom of the media , which protects the media from having to name their sources.

The German Basic Law speaks of freedom of the radio and the press instead of uniform freedom of the media.
