The media cooperative is a form of cooperative .

In Germany, cooperatives were founded with taz, the daily newspaper publishing cooperative for the taz and with LPG Junge Welt for the young world , in order to acquire the necessary capital for the respective media. In German-speaking Switzerland, the Infolink cooperative publishes WOZ Die Wochenzeitung with a circulation of 113,000 copies. In the online area, Republik is contributed by members of the cooperative.

Media cooperatives are a special form of service cooperative, in which mostly customers and service providers join forces in order to oppose the pure profit striving for the creation of the service with immaterial goals. For media as a trend company, there are additional ideal goals of the members of media cooperatives.
