Mega International Commercial Bank is a financial company from Taiwan . The company's headquarters are in Taipei . MICB is one of the major banks in Taiwan.

history

The origins go back to the Chinese Bank of China , which was founded in 1912 to replace Ta Ching Government Bank, the oldest bank in China. When Taiwan was returned to China by Japan in 1945, the Bank of China also gained a foothold there. After the communist victory in China and the flight of the national government to the island of Taiwan, the Bank of China was split into two banks, both under the same name. In 1971 it was renamed International Commercial Bank of China . instead, which could lead to confusion with the Chinese Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on the international markets .

As part of a major privatization campaign, the ICBC merged with the Chiao T'ung Bank on December 31, 2002 , which in turn emerged from the Bank of Communications, founded in 1908 .
