The MEGA eG is a German wholesale company for commercial customers in the fields of restoration, renovation and modernization. MEGA eG is a registered cooperative and part of the MEGA group, which u. a. the MKB SME Bank AG belongs.
MEGA eG is owned by the more than 5,600 cooperative members, mostly self-employed craftsmen. For the 2017 financial year, MEGA eG reported sales of 279.4 million euros; at the end of 2017, it employed 1,244 people at 88 of its own locations.
history
The origin of today's MEGA eG is the “Purchasing Association of Painters in Altona and the Surrounding Area”, founded in 1901. This cooperation of independent craftsmen served the common material supply for the use of purchasing advantages. Later, the legal form of the cooperative was decided and the MEGA Malereinkaufsgenossenschaft eG was founded in 1918. In 2010 the name was changed to MEGA eG.
