Multi-channel sound

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Multi-channel sound is used:

  1. in the context of television and means that the television program is broadcast in different audio versions; for example in two languages. This is possible if the two audio channels of the stereo tracks for the left and right channels of analog television are each assigned an audio track in mono (single-channel). With digital television DVB , several audio data streams can be broadcast and selected on the receiver side.
  2. with techniques like Dolby Digital or dts ; see also multi-channel sound system .
