Multiscript
Multialphabetism (Multialphabetismus) describes the parallel use of multiple alphabets. One differentiates:
- Multi-alphabetical languages, such as Japanese , which uses both logograms (Kanji) and syllabary (Hiragana, Katakana), or Serbian , which can be written in both Cyrillic and Latin letters
- Multilingualism as a result of multilingualism ( multilingualism ) in the context of migration , especially if the languages learned are based on different writing systems (e.g. Latin / Cyrillic, Latin / Arabic etc.)
- Multiple writing as an expression of intercultural competence, e.g. B. in the print and online media the correct reproduction of names from other Latin alphabets with all necessary diacritical marks and special letters ( Potočnik instead of Potocnik, Guðmundsdóttir instead of Gudmundsdottir)
- Multiple letters as a result of interoperability in the IT area, especially in e-government . With the increasing use of the international Unicode character set (ISO 10646), data can be exchanged across Europe without any loss of information (Potocnik, Poto? Nik or Potoènik instead of Potočnik)
