Master of the Divisio Apostolorum

As a master of Divisio Apostolorum or master of (Admont) apostles farewell is a medieval designated painter who in the late 15th century in the Steiermark worked. The artist, who is not known by name, received his emergency name from his picture, which depicts the Diviso Apostolorum, the apostles' farewell. The painting, dated 1494, originally came from the Admont Benedictine Abbey in Austria and is now in the National Gallery in Dublin , Ireland.

style

The style of the Master of the Divisio Apostolorum shows the influence of Dutch, Franconian and Salzburg painters on the painting of Styria of his time as well as the influence of the Master of the Viennese Schotten Altar and Martin Schongauer's works on the master’s compositions.

Some experts see a relationship between a picture of Martin (Szent Márton) from around 1490 in the National Gallery in Prague and the style of the master of the Divisio Apostolorum.
