Master of the Eferding Entombment

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medieval carver who carved a burial of Christ is called the master of the Eferdinger Entombment . This comes from a church in Eferding in Upper Austria and was brought to the Linz State Museum in 1866 or 1867 . In the eight-figure carved wood group, the body of Christ is missing today.

An unmounted relief of Christ in the midst of the apostles may also come from the master of the Eferding burial , which is now in private hands.
