The Master of the Collection of Manna (or Master of the Manna Miracle ) was a medieval painter who worked in the north of the Netherlands, possibly in Harlem , from around 1460 to 1475 . Since his real name is unknown, he was given an emergency name after a work that depicts the scene of the manna miracle from the book Exodus of the Old Testament .

Style and influence

The composition in the works of the master of the collection of manna suggests the influence of the woodcut techniques that were widespread in the north of the Netherlands at the time , because like these he groups the figures closely and only suggests the vastness of the room. The style of the master is close to the painting style of Aelbert van Ouwater .

identification

It has been suggested that the master of manna collection is the same as Jacob Clementsz or Simon Jansz. Brother Tymanus (Broeder Tymanus) should also come into question.

The collection of the manna probably formed an altar with other surviving pictures of the master , especially since The Sacrifice of the Jews also shows a scene from the book Exodus.
