The Memento Verlag AG was a publisher who as a joint stock company was performed and based in Freiburg had. It was founded in 1997 and was a joint venture between the leading French specialist publisher Editions Francis Lefebvre (EFL) and the Freiburg-based Haufe media group .
history
The name Memento refers to the series of annually published legal manuals for all company-relevant areas by EFL. The entire subject matter of a subject - such as personnel law, company law, tax or accounting law - is presented on approx. 1,500 pages each. The works also appear on CD-ROM and are continuously updated during the year via an online service (NetUpdate) in the corresponding text passages in the database.
In France, Memento legal manuals have been the market leader for decades. This success as well as the market launches in Spain, Italy and Great Britain spoke in favor of international acceptance of the product concept. Therefore, the “Mementos” should also be positioned in Germany as high-quality, practical specialist books. They were intended as a tool for companies and consulting professions, but also for associations, courts and universities.
The German branch in Freiburg was closed on March 31, 2009. The market growth in Germany was lower than expected, which was interpreted as an indicator of a limited opportunity for business development of Memento Verlag AG.
The parent company Editions Francis Lefebvre continues to focus on the European markets in which Memento has established itself (France, Spain, Italy, England).
