The Memorial de Odivelas

The Memorial de Odivelas is a Gothic marble arch in the center of the Portuguese district town of Odivelas .

It was probably built in the 14th century and is now in the immediate vicinity of the Quinta da Memória , the seat of the Câmara Municipal. Its meaning is unclear. According to Mário Guedes Real, it marks the limit of the jurisdiction of the Odivelas Monastery . But it could also have been built on the occasion of the transfer of the body of King Dionysius (Dom Dinis) , who was buried in the monastery of Odivelas .

The arch was declared a Monumento Nacional on June 16, 1910 . It can also be found in the coat of arms of the city of Odivelas.
