Merge replication

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Merge replication is a method of replication (synchronization) of data between two Microsoft SQL Server - databases . It works by means of merging ("mixing") the databases.

Merge replication is suitable, among other things, for situations in which a database is modified offline and only later compared with the central database or other databases. In this case, all changes are processed by a merge agent ; competing changes to the same data record can lead to data inconsistency . The merge conflicts that arise in this case are resolved according to configurable rules.
