Mertein from Mergentheim

Mertein von Mergentheim was the name of an extinct German noble family from Bad Mergentheim .

In the 14th century, the entire village of Messelhausen and the castle as a fief from the possession of the Counts of Hohenlohe passed into the property of Messrs. Mertein von Mergentheim. They sold both in 1401 to the city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber for 1430 guilders .
