The Mesmer Inn

The Mesmer is an alp in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden . It is only cultivated in the summer half of the year and is divided into a Lower Mesmer ( 1613  m above sea level ) and an Upper Mesmer ( 1827  m above sea level ). In addition to agriculture, the Unteren-Mesmer also offers an inn and overnight accommodation for mountain hikers. The Mesmer is a popular stopover on the ascent to the Säntis .

In older times the term "high mesmer" was used to refer to the Säntis . The first documents around 1500, which also refer to the Säntis, write jn mesner , vf den high mesner .
